I love all the embellishments included in this kit.<br />
<br />
My card today was made with Rose Red cardstock. I used the <i><b>Organic Flourish </b></i>embossing folder from Cuttlebug to dry embossed the top side of the card. Love those flourishes! The scallop doily and the scallop round tag were sponged with Primrose Petal ink. The sentiment is from <i><b>Vintage Verses</b></i> stamp set and was stamped with Primrose Petal ink. I grouped the resin rose, resin heart and clear button together and added pearls to the scallop tag. Tied the lacy ribbon around the card and I'm done!<br />
<br />

<br />
That was a quick and easy card. I made two more cards using the kit and they are posted <a href="http://irenetolentino.blogspot.com/2013/02/artisan-embellishments.html">HERE</a> if you'd like to check them out.<br />

Today's clean and simple cards were made with the new bundle from Stampin'Up called Hearts A Flutter bundle. An 8-piece stamp set with matching 5-piece die set.<br />
<br />
If you're familiar with my cards, you know when I want clean and simple I tend to go all white with a single accent color. The first card is all white with Pool Party and the second one is all white with Rich Razzleberry. The layout is the same, I just changed the color.<br />
<br />
I dry embossed the front panel with Adorning Accents Folders. I stamped and die cut the hearts with Hearts A Flutter stamps and dies. I used the 1/8 taffeta ribbon in black to border the embossed hearts. The buttons are one of the freebie items you get during Stampin'Up's Sale-A-Bration. I kept the sentiment simple so they can be used for Valentine or any occasion love note.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used the left over die cut hearts from the cards above to make another card. I added the die cuts scallop hearts which were die cut from Hearts A Flutter framelit dies. I also used the Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder from the Spring Catalog to dry embossed the front panel's top and bottom edges. The little bows were made with white baker's twine. Again, the simple sentiment makes this card a valentine or any occasion card.</div>

<br />
The first card is again in my favorite color combination - blue and green! The swallowtail was stamped in black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I colored the image with sponge using Island Indigo and Lucky Limeade inks. <br />
<br />
The card base is Lucky Limeade. I embossed the Island Indigo cardstock with the Swirly embossing folder, my very first embossing folder by Cuttlebug. The sentiment was stamped in white pigment ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder then punched with the Petite Curly Label punch from Stampin'Up. Love how this turned out. The ribbon is 1/4" satin in Island Indigo.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The colors I used on this card are Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit. The image was also stamped in black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I used a blender pen to apply color to the image. The ribbon is 3/8" stitched satin ribbon in Summer Starfruit. The sentiment was stamped in black pigment ink.</div>

She's so sweet and patient with him I wanted to give her a note of appreciation and a small treat. Her favorite color is green, so the set was made in different shades of green.<br />
<br />
The purse was made with Stampin' Up's Petite Purse Bigz L die. I did the faux leather technique on the flap. After it was die cut, I rubbed just the top part with Versamark ink and applied clear embossing powder. Then I drew the lines with a toothpick before heat setting the powder.<br />
<br />
Instead of the die cut handle, I used a black chain attached with black brads. I used designer brads for the accent "medallion". Isn't this the cutest thing?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNvLQMUKq_02PnjXFlH2DUVBoUbGiU9S1M-0LeyLVIk2wkxxrZfbfzhBguSowc5MtRdscFOGF2rspHQvkTbydgIBP5d57hz2M52ulFZQ5v1IX7vKQhYl2iRqgjs6VaRaMlkRCXQSJRTV8/s1600/Thank+you+Gift+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="353" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNvLQMUKq_02PnjXFlH2DUVBoUbGiU9S1M-0LeyLVIk2wkxxrZfbfzhBguSowc5MtRdscFOGF2rspHQvkTbydgIBP5d57hz2M52ulFZQ5v1IX7vKQhYl2iRqgjs6VaRaMlkRCXQSJRTV8/s400/Thank+you+Gift+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I stamped the sentiment on strips of card stock and wrapped those around the nugget chocolate and placed them inside the mini purse. I also made a small 3" x 3" note card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I put the bag and note card in a clear cello and tied a ribbon. I wanted to do a tag to hang on the ribbon but I was out of time.<br />

This time I got the standard measurements for the different panels. It's fun picking color combinations to make the butterfly "flutter" on paper.<br />
<br />
The picture instructions and measurements for this technique are towards the end of the post. I'll start with the samples which were all stamped with black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.<br />
<br />
The first card is one of my favorite color combinations - navy blue and bright green. In Stampin'Up world those colors are called Night of Navy and Lucky Limeade. The image was colored with Lucky Limeade, Marina Mist and Midnight Muse inks. The background was sponged with Lucky Limeade and the background images were stamped in Marina Mist ink. The sentiment was heat embossed in white embossing powder on Lucky Limeade card stock.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ9r7LrcBagqjxw-LnvrQolru3wQ7sR-vU8MP0A3KRPuv_y8WUtxHPtaS-YrG-4ORRfTKCU0Ji5Ypk_jTf-aj2VkHlNZcJr4uUgbAGmKMTIygsVjP8KKrq4H8wYRJKOyodqA7k7v9Ou8k/s1600/Swallowtail+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="343" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ9r7LrcBagqjxw-LnvrQolru3wQ7sR-vU8MP0A3KRPuv_y8WUtxHPtaS-YrG-4ORRfTKCU0Ji5Ypk_jTf-aj2VkHlNZcJr4uUgbAGmKMTIygsVjP8KKrq4H8wYRJKOyodqA7k7v9Ou8k/s400/Swallowtail+5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
For the next card I used Rich Razzleberry card stock and Pool Party ink. On this card, I sponged Pool Party ink all over the panels. Easy peasy! I stamped the sentiment with Rich Razzleberry ink and hand cut just the word Love. It's hard to see on the picture but I also stamped hearts on the background using Pool Party ink. I love these two color together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVmr_8EjTAsT26Ihw7CZte7EXLugOWOlTjdkfnuzcoLPTooAqXzYplu_51bheL74UzyIQOaql9vvyf6y2fpZvyzMnPwFvkGFPcHPtZKOtiDTsadhRC2UivJSF67CLmyQms4TiE_HPtPUA/s1600/Swallowtail+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="343" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVmr_8EjTAsT26Ihw7CZte7EXLugOWOlTjdkfnuzcoLPTooAqXzYplu_51bheL74UzyIQOaql9vvyf6y2fpZvyzMnPwFvkGFPcHPtZKOtiDTsadhRC2UivJSF67CLmyQms4TiE_HPtPUA/s400/Swallowtail+7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And the last card was made with Cajun Craze card stock. I colored the image with Daffodil Delight and Cajun Craze inks. I stamped hearts and the word Love on the background with Daffodil Delight ink.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil-Jc6aIjM-v5ICwnqSZ3GFO7tohvjf5X73g65d9Q2Nl7rfknkwQV_qx6Nn5757rBUqhMw_P6NG9hcg7PzPLnJ8hyphenhyphenDAeqpnXHpbKNQJl74aQZlboBluef1ULONa1xy7dM_iamoZ6RbG_w/s1600/Swallowtail+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="332" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil-Jc6aIjM-v5ICwnqSZ3GFO7tohvjf5X73g65d9Q2Nl7rfknkwQV_qx6Nn5757rBUqhMw_P6NG9hcg7PzPLnJ8hyphenhyphenDAeqpnXHpbKNQJl74aQZlboBluef1ULONa1xy7dM_iamoZ6RbG_w/s400/Swallowtail+8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now onto the instructions. You will need three panels cut from light colored cardstock, white or ivory are ideal. You will also need a base card and two mats cut from your choice of cardstock, pictured in green here. My panel measurements are <b>5-1/4" x 4</b>", <b>4-1/4" x 3"</b> and <b>3-1/4" x 2"</b>. My card is <b>11" x 4-1/4"</b> folded in half. The mat measurements are <b>4-1/2" x 3-1/4"</b> and <b>3-1/2" x 2-1/4"</b>. If your card is a different size, adjust your panel and mat measurements accordingly</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Apply removable tape to the back of your panels and stack them evenly like the picture below.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This was a fun and easy technique to do. I'm glad I finally got around to trying it.<br />
<br />
Hope my instructions are clear and you won't have trouble making your own card using this technique.<br />

As a result, I have all kinds of butterfly stamps, dies and punches. I actually haven't touch any of them in like a year or so. And then Stampin'Up came up with the Swallowtail stamp in their Spring catalog and I'm hooked all over again.<br />
<br />
Last summer a technique called triple time stamping was so popular everyone was doing it. I wanted to try it but the holidays rolled in so fast I never got around to doing one. When I saw the Spring catalog preview, I knew the Swallowtail stamp is perfect for this technique (at least for me). <br />
<br />
Once I started playing with it I couldn't stop. These are the two samples I have for today.<br />
<br />
The first one is a simple black and white with a pop of red. I added a gray ribbon, too,<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioaL18YoWg2cVrOoWEeRy4R2SCYCMECYDEGUrPn-1xYXwZHlMy_4aM3sSaPTKE2aLzJyNYxm7aBJliYZorE2q9D0FnH9Eh8l5wiEE_lmXR0nY1Rt4hAbRDZUnxamiVoZzGykTUqmHfvNo/s1600/Swallowtail+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioaL18YoWg2cVrOoWEeRy4R2SCYCMECYDEGUrPn-1xYXwZHlMy_4aM3sSaPTKE2aLzJyNYxm7aBJliYZorE2q9D0FnH9Eh8l5wiEE_lmXR0nY1Rt4hAbRDZUnxamiVoZzGykTUqmHfvNo/s400/Swallowtail+2.jpg" width="317" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The second one is the triple time stamping technique. I cut my card stock from memory and it turned out I was way off. I did mine in a quarter inch increment and it should have been an inch increment. But it's a "happy" mistake because I was able to highlight a bigger image of the swallowtail.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I stamped the Swallowtail in black craft ink and heat embossed using clear embossing powder. Then I sponged Summer Starfruit all over the image and border. Next I sponged Primrose Petal in areas where I want some pink to stand out and blended the two colors together. Some of the blended colors came out orangy. The base card and mats are Old Olive card stock.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM7U1-1FNSkhXJGi9mhtFpvEPvMiwg0PalytE-RU1ksa1fb0vOXDBto8X_chf5X3OiIEl8uZKDKa6Q6wecRiV30Ec3sqmq0HwJ5XB5Ble85YT6XF4NKIKt3D3T7yKkKsQTql9mkFzAcz4/s1600/Swallowtail+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="341" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM7U1-1FNSkhXJGi9mhtFpvEPvMiwg0PalytE-RU1ksa1fb0vOXDBto8X_chf5X3OiIEl8uZKDKa6Q6wecRiV30Ec3sqmq0HwJ5XB5Ble85YT6XF4NKIKt3D3T7yKkKsQTql9mkFzAcz4/s400/Swallowtail+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I will include a more detailed instructions on my next post which will feature more cards using the same technique.<br />
<br />
Stay tuned for more Swallowtail and Triple Time Stamping technique.<br />
<br />
Cheers!!!<br />

This time I have a frame on hand since I've kept my eyes open for picture frames on sale over the holidays.<br />
<br />
My swap was posted <a href="http://chitchatsandcrafts.blogspot.com/2013/01/valentine-square-collage.html">HERE</a>. Funny how the swaps are all so similar but none are exactly the same. And they all complement my striking embellishment - the red heart die cut felt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLEp-3k0OymjdW_8iOTIBwpdDeQOEtAjCntYQMvSqnT1G4EXAWC717TpHcEyq2rV2016fWSrVHa5TD317BuJZu27YQsSYfy1Z265v0rsaP_wU2U1FWsYzYG87BXmqLfsiuRlsjlGqmy30/s1600/Valentine+Square+Collage+Frame+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="361" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLEp-3k0OymjdW_8iOTIBwpdDeQOEtAjCntYQMvSqnT1G4EXAWC717TpHcEyq2rV2016fWSrVHa5TD317BuJZu27YQsSYfy1Z265v0rsaP_wU2U1FWsYzYG87BXmqLfsiuRlsjlGqmy30/s400/Valentine+Square+Collage+Frame+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
A few weeks ago when I was organizing my work area for the new year, I found packs of self adhesive strips of felt with different colors and die cuts. Red hearts, blue stars, yellow, pink and purple flowers. I used the red heart die cuts for this frame collage. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fit all the squares in the frame. Two squares were not included.<br />
<br />
Here's a close up look.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7Ba8n3Q1PUAUonLY1QRn40AD87tIJo98sffPz_gsJE_iflfX4zIIzC9_datXnkZyorLU_Z3gTLbxvpWBgB8fQrQfyqSHEpxgvilC1G1toH21n9hSkxT2LyLc-RgF9J3aX0kUj_KrRnpM/s1600/Valentine+Square+Collage+Frame+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7Ba8n3Q1PUAUonLY1QRn40AD87tIJo98sffPz_gsJE_iflfX4zIIzC9_datXnkZyorLU_Z3gTLbxvpWBgB8fQrQfyqSHEpxgvilC1G1toH21n9hSkxT2LyLc-RgF9J3aX0kUj_KrRnpM/s400/Valentine+Square+Collage+Frame+5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The next square swap theme is Easter/Spring. This will be really interesting as the theme could produce a myriad of designs. I think I'm going with the spring theme - lots of flowers.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time ............. Cheers!!!<br />

Today I'm sharing one of the free items you get during SAB. This is one of the two prizes I won at our recent group meeting, it's called Happy Hello card kit. Included in the kit are eight die cut cards and envelopes, flowers and strips stickers, baker's twine and rhinestones.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The card on the left was made following the kit design. Real simple and quick card. On the other one I used the same embellishments but changed the layout a little bit.<br />

The last one was a card made with the Happy Hello card kit. The same kit I won as a door prize. I love the die cut card. We embellished the card with the adorable Dress Up framelit dies, Delicate Details lace tape and the Flower Trim which you can color to match your project. </div>

It was fun playing with all these new items from the Spring and Sale-a-Bration catalogs. The problem is when you see them on the catalogs you think 'that's nice' and you move on but once you've touched them and used them, that thinking changes to 'I need that or I want that'! That's how I feel about the Dress Up dies. LOL!<br />
<br />
If you need additional information on any of the supplies used here, drop me a line and I'll hook you up.<br />

I made some thank you cards to add to my stash. I must say these turned out better than I expected. I'm sticking to one of my crafting resolutions - do not hoard paper and embellishments! I used new designer papers, buttons and ribbons. So new, in fact, that they're not available to Stampin'Up customers until the 22nd when Sale-a-bration (SAB) begins. And, they are not for sale! These are a few of the free items you get during SAB<br />
<br />
The first card is for my upline Patty Bennett. Just a simple thank you card for all the support and encouragement she gives us. Love how I can match the tangerine tango embossing powder with the tangerine buttons and the ribbons with the designer paper.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On the second card, I also used pool party card stock for the card base. The Sycamore Street DSP, a free pack of designer papers from SAB, coordinates perfectly with pool party. Love the contrast between rich razzleberry and pool party.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On the third card, I also used pool party and rich razzleberry colors but reversed the card stock and embellishment colors. Same but different.</div>

I decided that my original layout posted <a href="http://chitchatsandcrafts.blogspot.com/2013/01/swap-card-faux-chalk-art.html">HERE</a> was a little busy and went with a more simple layout. What do you think?<br />

Our group meeting was yesterday. Guess who won the best card? My card got the most votes and won first place! I was so excited, two meetings in a row that I snagged the best card. <br />
<br />
Patty Bennett was so generous with the prizes. I won the Flower Fair Bundle from Stampin'Up's Spring Catalog. This is a Simply Scrappin' Kit with the coordinating 8x8 Designer printed ring album.<br />

My recent task was to sort and organize my card stocks. I didn't realize that I have over one hundred different colors of card stocks. Yikes! Maybe my son's old elementary school can use some cardstocks.<br />
<br />
I was getting sick of filing cardstocks when I had a 'light bulb' moment. Why not make something with them instead of spending time putting them away! Something simple. Check it out, here are some of the cards I made.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWjG5O1nmRUsZnTs8PVQBWORXfp3qHP6p5LB2pc37LceFy1VaeVFLnfmEWz1EXqoJIKcqsUiLpm1w404MVmP9qu2_jufbWfsHzjfuwZ4u7VjN1A_O8qWii0HUA-VzCGYqlzrIXAEVtK5s/s1600/Gift+Card+Holder+15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWjG5O1nmRUsZnTs8PVQBWORXfp3qHP6p5LB2pc37LceFy1VaeVFLnfmEWz1EXqoJIKcqsUiLpm1w404MVmP9qu2_jufbWfsHzjfuwZ4u7VjN1A_O8qWii0HUA-VzCGYqlzrIXAEVtK5s/s400/Gift+Card+Holder+15.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I used this same design to make some last minute cash and gift card holders for Christmas. The inside has a pocket to hold cash or a gift card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuz_0EvoNpPKzjiUTJ_EPJUgfcXzOFdJ9JVHkg3h_2OxVApQsFNvauSTcmRe7wGdtHRdTuYkYvVUG8rOoQgoSwRWxh30MmaLFz58F87gwjhU_MO0ETxX_JenEAVaG3tL9KRmprMkCFvD0/s1600/Gift+Card+Holder+16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuz_0EvoNpPKzjiUTJ_EPJUgfcXzOFdJ9JVHkg3h_2OxVApQsFNvauSTcmRe7wGdtHRdTuYkYvVUG8rOoQgoSwRWxh30MmaLFz58F87gwjhU_MO0ETxX_JenEAVaG3tL9KRmprMkCFvD0/s400/Gift+Card+Holder+16.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

I love how my first chalkboard card turned out, posted <a href="http://chitchatsandcrafts.blogspot.com/2013/01/faux-chalk-art.html">HERE</a>, that's why I wanted to try it again.<br />
<br />
First step is deciding which stamp set to use. I had a pretty good idea of the design and I need stamps that will work together and will fit in the layout. With clear stamps, I was able to place all the stamps at once on a clear block. This enabled me to stamp all the images at the same time. I used images from five different stamp sets, that's a lot. <br />
<br />
Another thing I did was cut the stamps to make them fit the design. For example, the top stamp was originally <i style="font-weight: bold;">"YOU'RE SUCH AN AMAZING" </i>I cut out <i style="font-weight: bold;">"SUCH AN"</i> because I only need <b style="font-style: italic;">"YOU'RE AMAZING"</b> for this card. Same thing with the brackets, they're originally about an inch apart and I cut them in half so I can use them separately.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY8UTzlsl2ii_Vh3KBMw9YK1rN_Fd0IVbLMZbxD49CMEdEV7GYlnKLDn7rM6N2LDdB2855NyiIx4FLa__diXOW6asZ-W6fpn7sreDiImCfGmgxumIGURrefSU3o1mifloMdT9dyDbGzaw/s1600/Swap+Jan2013+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY8UTzlsl2ii_Vh3KBMw9YK1rN_Fd0IVbLMZbxD49CMEdEV7GYlnKLDn7rM6N2LDdB2855NyiIx4FLa__diXOW6asZ-W6fpn7sreDiImCfGmgxumIGURrefSU3o1mifloMdT9dyDbGzaw/s400/Swap+Jan2013+2.jpg" width="308" /></a></div>
<br />
I used Versamark and white embossing powder to heat emboss all images. Here is my starting point.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiMOdBP-LPgqPFm405f37qShu51P8zZwFddldUUIjhD7IUAS-tJ6DngOWgxAST8ElR8da34OJneZBWo9Y6OPFh7iPNvsMttPph3tuHUz5YwJ6zzSGXLolEmOb2fNZIM1lFQ1u_Dv7AGD4/s1600/Swap+Jan2013+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiMOdBP-LPgqPFm405f37qShu51P8zZwFddldUUIjhD7IUAS-tJ6DngOWgxAST8ElR8da34OJneZBWo9Y6OPFh7iPNvsMttPph3tuHUz5YwJ6zzSGXLolEmOb2fNZIM1lFQ1u_Dv7AGD4/s400/Swap+Jan2013+3.jpg" width="322" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I added borders and lines using a white pencil. I played with colored pencils for highlight but I wasn't getting the "pop" I had in mind. In the end, I went with tiny punch flowers in rose red to match my card base. I sponged white ink on the flowers to tone down the color a little bit. TIP: Sponge the cardstock with white ink before punching your flowers to save time instead of sponging punched tiny flowers one by one.<br />
<br />
Final step is to sponge white ink all over the card to simulate chalk dust. If you sponge the ink before adding the lines or any other doodle with the pencil, the sponged ink slightly resist the pencil and your lines or doodles are muted. I personally like the lines sharp and crisp to begin with and then muted with sponging.<br />
<br />
Here's the completed card. I'm glad I was able to meet the 10-minute or less criteria.<br />
<br />
UPDATE: I changed my mind on the design and didn't swap this card, instead I swapped <a href="http://chitchatsandcrafts.blogspot.com/2013/01/swap-card-january-meeting.html">THIS</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here's what I played with before I got to the final card above.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcpIUEMODHZlxD8IgQIqtPi6moS1kDiYNUNTth8kaeyM44JCnYnOiy-EMFxgkH5H20It7VCAYN32A5kyyu8l9S-qlXUHfVnuuY0i69SIo3TXr_TGozAVypBCNXfIDGiOtR_Role9DCzDc/s1600/Swap+Jan2013+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="233" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcpIUEMODHZlxD8IgQIqtPi6moS1kDiYNUNTth8kaeyM44JCnYnOiy-EMFxgkH5H20It7VCAYN32A5kyyu8l9S-qlXUHfVnuuY0i69SIo3TXr_TGozAVypBCNXfIDGiOtR_Role9DCzDc/s400/Swap+Jan2013+4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now I just need to do twenty five more and I'll be all set for the meeting.</div>

This is a set of 8 laser cut cards. I decided on real simple layout to highlight the delicate cut outs. <br />
<br />
I could not resist making Valentine cards with the heart laser cut cards. I cased a card I saw a while ago. It's stunning and oh, so easy. I made two of these. The red glimmer paper really makes the cut out heart shine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRFKs_esXaJ57QpVvYf_fqa2RUdsk7Lk3fpcBSI_ggrx0tfxHVaLBQcfuyCWhmJKut7vfVL4WwU2ny6-KRyqjmdCMFR3XN3Wyhh7Vt-pQra_7GILXMjWhcnJWDCwDM1i9UIm5Ks07WW3M/s1600/Designer+Cuts+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRFKs_esXaJ57QpVvYf_fqa2RUdsk7Lk3fpcBSI_ggrx0tfxHVaLBQcfuyCWhmJKut7vfVL4WwU2ny6-KRyqjmdCMFR3XN3Wyhh7Vt-pQra_7GILXMjWhcnJWDCwDM1i9UIm5Ks07WW3M/s400/Designer+Cuts+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The next card can also be for Valentine. For this one, I followed a tutorial by my upline Patty Bennett. I used vellum colored with markers and attached it behind the cut out heart. It's like stained glass when light shines through it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I haven't done the other laser cut design. Hopefully, I'll get to them next week and cross them off my to do list. I'm currently focusing on my swap for my January 19th group meeting. I'm still playing with layouts and designs and trying to finalize one that will meet the 10-minute criteria.<br />

But recently when I was putting away all the supplies that I managed to scatter all over my work area I made a crafting resolution. The first one was to <b><u>complete all the card kits</u></b> I have been hoarding.<br />
<br />
I'm happy to say that I completed one kit in the last couple of days. The card kit is called <i style="font-weight: bold;">Everyday Elegance</i> by Stampin'Up. I can't even remember when I got this kit.<br />
<br />
I started with the Cherry Cobbler cards. I colored the image with Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive markers and was quite happy with the result. I've forgotten the stunning look you get from multi-colored stamped images. The layout is simple and took no time to put together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisooyr0R-x0deft_brZoUzPkilPwbeCY74PtHYHYJT6fIwKNUzEYGejPraKjBhc8s3dqIhmDRAegmxV4oWr2lnvpZsSIKSk8bJDJd-7Ln9hj5svGuSUxVmJC_yaYBMW3BC4_Pbb-mZ9m8/s1600/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisooyr0R-x0deft_brZoUzPkilPwbeCY74PtHYHYJT6fIwKNUzEYGejPraKjBhc8s3dqIhmDRAegmxV4oWr2lnvpZsSIKSk8bJDJd-7Ln9hj5svGuSUxVmJC_yaYBMW3BC4_Pbb-mZ9m8/s400/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I finished all four cards quickly. The only variation is the sentiment - three happy birthdays and one thinking of you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivh4iUlgI-swjV6On7P644DPmibhBC2DKlkI8mTL6doHaXKg76ZFOdnV4MJAZQVybc-BtsctPamqg_aOqZ7I-neAZtyEW5Bp9RNPp78LWv4JS5IEYN3vgFfEIGy95tL8PFqbQEFr6jeg4/s1600/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="195" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivh4iUlgI-swjV6On7P644DPmibhBC2DKlkI8mTL6doHaXKg76ZFOdnV4MJAZQVybc-BtsctPamqg_aOqZ7I-neAZtyEW5Bp9RNPp78LWv4JS5IEYN3vgFfEIGy95tL8PFqbQEFr6jeg4/s400/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Onto the Baja Breeze cards. I stuck with the floral theme and picked hydrangea for this set of cards. I also colored the stamp with Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive markers. I manually cut around the flower and stem and set it on the card with dimensionals. Added the ribbon and the sentiment. I have to say that this is gorgeous in real life. I'm glad I took the time to fussy cut around the flower, sooo worth the effort.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimr_z-Qyw4jQF1WtmRCWMHGLkDgjPhSQzjnE24Rqc4VwkYUNab0IcUpAuRlmZq2u40vn7bb-og3AeRdmmmPBozL5T8ETy9Y0qTkNzgwV91G0ZpoJGKOQqzWv5hyphenhyphen3ZxcpTgHWdolPdgYbs/s1600/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimr_z-Qyw4jQF1WtmRCWMHGLkDgjPhSQzjnE24Rqc4VwkYUNab0IcUpAuRlmZq2u40vn7bb-og3AeRdmmmPBozL5T8ETy9Y0qTkNzgwV91G0ZpoJGKOQqzWv5hyphenhyphen3ZxcpTgHWdolPdgYbs/s400/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The next card is a different layout. I masked the stem and leaves of the flower and used Baja Breeze ink pad to inked the flower. Then I color the stem and leaves with Old Olive marker. When I stamped it on a white card stock I got a two-tone image. Yikes! I forgot to clean the stamp before inking it with another color. But this was a good mistake since some hydrangeas are two-tone.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwoz0j6KN2BEm7pF8vmIUqI58VbJLNmfKvBPof5uo0MHpPr5Z6djhPLPBA0iUfxTVKu_op78bKKbbGY9cJYIhd7FjvxP8unLoG5nIX-WEhyphenhyphenCy7cd2w7kFt5266w6wZjLNqNn_s7n4Gjdw/s1600/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwoz0j6KN2BEm7pF8vmIUqI58VbJLNmfKvBPof5uo0MHpPr5Z6djhPLPBA0iUfxTVKu_op78bKKbbGY9cJYIhd7FjvxP8unLoG5nIX-WEhyphenhyphenCy7cd2w7kFt5266w6wZjLNqNn_s7n4Gjdw/s400/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+1.jpg" width="340" /></a></div>
<br />
After that unplanned two-tone effect, the single color image just looked flat so I had to re-create my mistake to make the other two cards.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8Ex3E_UeBxs4PGjVzCC3bgTvgMmjzVQx544Y7KcE2FycCwP9KeSYv81r068HzerskfLg62dHo8pvqNwytzSdi0O0OXkoHgpvBLK2rwCdIk14fA-cJN2r0XItZRAg1btXy116KoFV1mnQ/s1600/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8Ex3E_UeBxs4PGjVzCC3bgTvgMmjzVQx544Y7KcE2FycCwP9KeSYv81r068HzerskfLg62dHo8pvqNwytzSdi0O0OXkoHgpvBLK2rwCdIk14fA-cJN2r0XItZRAg1btXy116KoFV1mnQ/s400/Everyday+Elegance+Simply+Sent+Kit+9.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These four were a bit more work than the first four and you can see the difference. I just love how they turned out!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<br />
Hope you enjoyed today's project. Coming up next is the other card kit I have been saving. <br />
<br />
Until the next post............. Cheers!!!<br />

All supplies used were from Stampin'Up.Irene Tolentino http://www.blogger.com/profile/04825343668921897167noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9144185281917240781.post-9717977707158416882013-01-04T23:01:00.000-08:002013-01-04T23:01:37.773-08:00Birthday Gift Card HolderI made this quickie birthday card for my nephew. I used the same design as the Christmas Pop Up gift card holder posted <a href="http://chitchatsandcrafts.blogspot.com/2012/10/christmas-card-2-pop-up-gift-card-holder.html">HERE</a>. I got him a gift card from Target for his birthday and the pop-up card was perfect for it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtI2z4Y4yuBdUobvt54_59kKApn6u7LvjawMX0GE4pCwLmH7BnUr8YqjR6gkoWH1OKsKkQME5a_WIYbpXW40vkDvRn4iZImzIYoFvNnnfCwBBAXLk8VpkbSDNx7_eU5KNaO6aoZYq8rgU/s1600/Birthday+Pop+Up+Gift+Card+Holder+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtI2z4Y4yuBdUobvt54_59kKApn6u7LvjawMX0GE4pCwLmH7BnUr8YqjR6gkoWH1OKsKkQME5a_WIYbpXW40vkDvRn4iZImzIYoFvNnnfCwBBAXLk8VpkbSDNx7_eU5KNaO6aoZYq8rgU/s320/Birthday+Pop+Up+Gift+Card+Holder+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The gift card I chose also added to the design of the card, don't you think?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh95isy1ecvtRKOUaOOkUq6eDtM_CHUAiWmsxcT8F17eHvq-8rzgvWsFB7MliMbmHc_2b447vgolDavq4l6K206KNeAc0Cs4TTu928fNxvD_CPcCYF5kcu7ooggOYxUcQFEN6_GNFRRFI4/s1600/Birthday+Pop+Up+Gift+Card+Holder+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="278" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh95isy1ecvtRKOUaOOkUq6eDtM_CHUAiWmsxcT8F17eHvq-8rzgvWsFB7MliMbmHc_2b447vgolDavq4l6K206KNeAc0Cs4TTu928fNxvD_CPcCYF5kcu7ooggOYxUcQFEN6_GNFRRFI4/s320/Birthday+Pop+Up+Gift+Card+Holder+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm making a stack of this card type, as they are so handy for gift giving.<br />
<br />
Thanks for checking in. Until the next post............ Cheers!!!Irene Tolentino http://www.blogger.com/profile/04825343668921897167noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9144185281917240781.post-55704390364808106962013-01-03T22:29:00.001-08:002013-01-03T22:29:20.787-08:00Altered Blank CardsI got this pack of blank cards at the local craft store. I thought that the plain floral prints are just screaming to be embellished. Sort of like a blank canvas! With some embellishments you'll end up with six, cute, one of a kind cards.<br />
<br />
This is how they look originally. I only want to use the front image with my base cards so I trimmed the card front to 4" x 5.25" to make my main panel.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBQ3C1ImbvdV2yZu4yBd6WP2kxRrZ8udjhthq1TlfFXd6owOayiSmgmIH8BWlWjGfA_G2n00VTJo3z18j6ElMtq-MegKTuCbTrnRCSgwZmuyJNgIL6UntMi0MM62t-9IfXxjHHbN9jXj0/s1600/Blank+Card+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBQ3C1ImbvdV2yZu4yBd6WP2kxRrZ8udjhthq1TlfFXd6owOayiSmgmIH8BWlWjGfA_G2n00VTJo3z18j6ElMtq-MegKTuCbTrnRCSgwZmuyJNgIL6UntMi0MM62t-9IfXxjHHbN9jXj0/s400/Blank+Card+1.jpg" width="313" /></a></div>
<br />
The first card is quick and simple. I used limeade cardstock for the card base and added neon green rhinestones to the center of each flower. Then I layered a navy blue strip for the sentiment. Before I took the picture I added the butterflies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSqfOqNBz_oDCB7DGQabNisk6Vf_hictQTd2mhZTTHwjos98KaQtTn2yofX2sRD6Vd_puw9_e9IC7euvgxh9t-xSRuGFp-lIdcQU-f9LuLWb26_1QDd0rYsQI5eHNnuQh8Er0dWMQ9exg/s1600/Blank+Card+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSqfOqNBz_oDCB7DGQabNisk6Vf_hictQTd2mhZTTHwjos98KaQtTn2yofX2sRD6Vd_puw9_e9IC7euvgxh9t-xSRuGFp-lIdcQU-f9LuLWb26_1QDd0rYsQI5eHNnuQh8Er0dWMQ9exg/s400/Blank+Card+2.jpg" width="336" /></a></div>
<br />
For the next card, I colored the whole panel with Tim Holtz's Distress Stains. Did I mention that the blank cards were made with glossy cardstock? The stains work really well with porous surfaces, not so well on glossy cardstock, DUH! I used the heat gun to dry and set the stains, then rubbed a paper towel all over the panel. The end result was not too bad. I used pomegranate cardstock (I think) for the base card. In real life, it doesn't have the "blotchy" look as you see in the picture.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2wP96Mf48TgQMAd_EeH2KPwGutfzdJC3yFeOwxGhTAWI0yx609VXd9Vf-CRA1KXIUmHTWjVDgKdhv60HbR7QK8DIxiOcHjYCji3dghgjepu77CChvJGVKTKzf6msl1D9JoA5t9pCFJx4/s1600/Blank+Card+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2wP96Mf48TgQMAd_EeH2KPwGutfzdJC3yFeOwxGhTAWI0yx609VXd9Vf-CRA1KXIUmHTWjVDgKdhv60HbR7QK8DIxiOcHjYCji3dghgjepu77CChvJGVKTKzf6msl1D9JoA5t9pCFJx4/s400/Blank+Card+3.jpg" width="306" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
This card took more time to put together than the others. I wanted to color the flowers and permanent markers work well with glossy cardstock. I used magenta, pink and lilac markers. The colors are so vibrant in real life. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSyMQoVgNh46O1DUZ4iGG0HOZ9szR0GdiNoLQv3DbehJHF9hP6L2OpHXDCuSgfa1mNcZAGA6JUELVxsCrhq53DhEXt7KasRFL858-io-iv-wveZKhT8epGOXH43kUGkbwSv1K8fj-61k8/s1600/Blank+Card+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSyMQoVgNh46O1DUZ4iGG0HOZ9szR0GdiNoLQv3DbehJHF9hP6L2OpHXDCuSgfa1mNcZAGA6JUELVxsCrhq53DhEXt7KasRFL858-io-iv-wveZKhT8epGOXH43kUGkbwSv1K8fj-61k8/s400/Blank+Card+4.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
The next card was embellished with buttons. I seldom use buttons for embellishments even though I have quite a few in different colors and sizes. I added the natural twine to the buttons to soften the bright blue color. I matched the sentiment to the card base which was summer starfruit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjosofjUOVr9eJiQTp23rpC-Jxhm0wpEn7V8o2w1KRN7BOuq0ObyITqPzuphfRZ5hnf29ENnT8GPPAQaAjIWaf3U_t4rfPMBRwmd2Thxhd_gWViaXp_KowvG6CcS9vLCf8A0V8RI72bZMM/s1600/Blank+Card+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjosofjUOVr9eJiQTp23rpC-Jxhm0wpEn7V8o2w1KRN7BOuq0ObyITqPzuphfRZ5hnf29ENnT8GPPAQaAjIWaf3U_t4rfPMBRwmd2Thxhd_gWViaXp_KowvG6CcS9vLCf8A0V8RI72bZMM/s400/Blank+Card+6.jpg" width="350" /></a></div>
<br />
Next is the pink card. I punched the tiny flowers from primrose petal card stock to complement the base card made with pink pirouette. I added the pink rhinestones to the tiny flowers and glued them on the panel. I thought this could be a simple Valentine card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoTZhiYDanc-yMYpH2WdCKxsYCVzaIqJppCcRNTfQmXZMiO_RWNZsbbk-3MycwqvpjCZt25HOMAFpnpzZ76RZbMICSnXeeweM-okEx2ovOqD3lxKfBTvwanIEbKBG8ux6WhAZw-98eYSw/s1600/Blank+Card+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoTZhiYDanc-yMYpH2WdCKxsYCVzaIqJppCcRNTfQmXZMiO_RWNZsbbk-3MycwqvpjCZt25HOMAFpnpzZ76RZbMICSnXeeweM-okEx2ovOqD3lxKfBTvwanIEbKBG8ux6WhAZw-98eYSw/s400/Blank+Card+5.jpg" width="333" /></a></div>
<br />
Card number six is unfinished. I didn't like what I put together. I'll fix it some other time but I'll show you how far I've gotten.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYcvvd9boi8dFdOU0eB1VBGfhVPfDrNLm3kL-rVD1D1oW24Pnz8gc3aUFwIkNc7BcYsVLMzDNpPWBhL2kIVYX_8ZhVBIOZg7GtJuRqwDewEfDrMDb0aSz_iqFr7W-el_0_ZUt8qhgApns/s1600/Blank+Card+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYcvvd9boi8dFdOU0eB1VBGfhVPfDrNLm3kL-rVD1D1oW24Pnz8gc3aUFwIkNc7BcYsVLMzDNpPWBhL2kIVYX_8ZhVBIOZg7GtJuRqwDewEfDrMDb0aSz_iqFr7W-el_0_ZUt8qhgApns/s400/Blank+Card+7.jpg" width="331" /></a></div>
<br />
I like how the first five turned out. The next time you see a stack of cheap ($1.00), plain cards grab them and add your own special touch. You don't need to have a stash of embellishments to make them your own. I just want to add that since they're cheap, the envelopes that came with the cards were like made with tissue paper. I'm using my own envelopes.<br />
<br />
I used Sharpies permanent markers to color the flowers. You know the extra buttons that come with sweaters or blouses, I save those with my embellishments. You can color the clear or white buttons with Sharpies, too. If you ever see clear rhinestones at the dollar bins at Target or your local craft store, grab them. You can color rhinestones with Sharpies to match your project. So really, the only thing you need to invest in is Sharpies. A multi-color pack of twelve is under $8.00. I also have the Crayola permanent markers but the colors are not as intense as Sharpies.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by today. Until the next post............. Cheers!!!<br />

I already have a couple of layouts in my head, it's just a matter of putting them on paper to see which one works. I got all the elements ready and tried a few layouts. <br />
<br />
Love was heat embossed with white embossing powder on real read card stock. Then punched with the new Stampin'Up Petite Curly Label, this is one of the free items in the upcoming Sale-A-Bration starting on January 22nd. I also punched a bunch of tiny hearts from white card stock and red glimmer paper. The base is crumb cake cardstock punched with a 1-3/8" square punch. The main requirement for these collage swaps is the size, 1-3/8" no more no less. People submit odd sizes anyway, go figure!<br />

I have been playing with faux chalkboard art in preparation for an upcoming swap. I quickly put this panel together to express my new year.greetings. I think it turned out really good. <br />
<br />
I used a stamp set from Stampin'Up called <b><i>Happy Hour</i></b> and added my own doodles. The cocktails and greetings were heat embossed using white embossing powder. I sponged white ink around the edges to simulate chalk dust on blackboards. I added my doodles using white gel pen.<br />

I made the first angel well before Thanksgiving. Right away I had problems. I could not locate my heat gun and my hanger hooks are not long enough. I used glue and the shorter hooks. The result was disappointing. So I tabled that project until last week.<br />
<br />
I now have a cheapo heat gun and instead of hooks I will use cords for a hanger. Much better results. When I was making these I thought of the children who died in Connecticut and how they're now little angels. I added the little banner as my silent plea to end violence. We need <b style="color: blue; font-style: italic;">Peace on Earth</b>. <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love how they turned out. What I also like is that they're not flimsy. The hot glue was the key. Below is the group shot before I added the banner.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I gave some of these to the CCD teachers at church. I'm also mailing a couple to an old friend who sent me a Christmas card this year. I lost her address and I now have it. She collects angels and I just know she would appreciate these.</div>

My mom and two of my sisters take turns making them. They're very tedious to make and over the years my Mom and sisters developed ways to speed up the process. For instance, they use tortilla press to flatten the dough so it's even when you lay it on the baking tray. In recent years, they've resorted to using mini muffin trays instead of the individual molds to bake the tarts. Easy clean up and you get more uniform products.<br />
<br />
They still chop the pecans by hand. Manually chopping ten pounds or more of pecans seems so much work for me that's why I never got in the making pecans rotation. Maybe in another ten years they'll get on the food processor band wagon. LOL!!<br />
<br />
I'm not allowed to post the recipe but I can tell you the ingredients. Pecans, eggs, butter, vanilla, sugar, flour and cream cheese. I think everyone love these pecan tarts because not only do they taste really good, they somehow remind people of something their "grandma used to make". I've heard people say that so many times.<br />
<br />
Start by chopping the pecans. Then cook the filling. While the filling is cooling off, you work on the dough. Form little round balls when the dough is ready. Flatten the balls and place them into the molds or muffin trays. Fill the molds with the filling and bake. This is what you get.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once they're cool, we wrap them individually. This is the process where I usually get involved. And I get to taste test, yummy! We sprinkle powdered sugar over them so they don't stick to the wrapper.</div>

Every year we have a family white elephant gift exchange on Christmas day. My sister Ida and I came up with a gag gift to exchange on Christmas day. She took an unused lunch box and filled it with pecan tarts but the twist is the addition of the diet tea, my idea. We have relatives who count on us to bring pecan tarts every year and there won't be any this year unless they get the gag gift.<br />

It'll be interesting to see if this gift will get pass around. Our while elephant rule is you can "steal" the gift up to three times.<br />
<br />
That's the pecan tart saga this year folks. I thank you for stopping by. Christmas is just a few hours away.<br />

I thought they were cute when I first noticed them a few months ago. I just had to try and make them since I have plenty of battery operated tea lights.<br />

<br />
I wasn't too crazy about them once they're done so I only made two. I like the cake tea light better.<br />
<br />
Moving on to the next project. Christmas Angels! Check out future post.<br />

</div>
We're all out of Christmas gift tags so I just had to whip up some quick ones. The punches really came in handy and sped up this whole project. I used the tag, scallop and circle punches. I also used some dimensional stickers that I recently found in my stash. And I used mostly scrap cardstock that's why the colors are pretty limited.<br />
<br />
Stamping was minimal, just the<i><b> to</b></i> and <i style="font-weight: bold;">from </i>until I found a set of stamps designed for tags. I used a few of those. Once I got started I could not stop. When I noticed that I had quite a few done, I counted them and was surprised that I had done almost fifty tags! We don't have fifty gifts to wrap so I forced myself to stop. LOL!!<br />
<br />

<br />
These other tags are a little more special and involved some thinking. I only need a few and they will be used for the Pecan Tarts I'm giving away to the CCD teachers at church. I will post the pecan saga separately.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to include the ingredients list on the tags, in case some people have allergies.</div>

Recently, I saw some postings with the same projects so I rummaged through my holiday stash to look for the leftover fleece from last year. Luckily, I had some fleece that were already sewn, just need to cut to size. I found the template for the snowman in one of my flash drives, just need to print on cardstock. One thing I don't have on hand are candy bars but I have a lot of granola and energy bars, which are basically candy bars masquerading as health foods! Now I have everything I need to make some fun giveaway treats.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTl0lcHlWH5Na8W1ryyaIvmD1DZnBV7rpD7_GaePG9ir5GPCaDsD_Hx3fRhq4bF_SlVqWHQTmzU2FhwfFfNOtXzu05df6Vn-eTSbZI8Zvyn9XoIwdz-Lc5Gaf94mwCuN17poX9f9c8j8Q/s1600/Snowmen+Huddle+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTl0lcHlWH5Na8W1ryyaIvmD1DZnBV7rpD7_GaePG9ir5GPCaDsD_Hx3fRhq4bF_SlVqWHQTmzU2FhwfFfNOtXzu05df6Vn-eTSbZI8Zvyn9XoIwdz-Lc5Gaf94mwCuN17poX9f9c8j8Q/s400/Snowmen+Huddle+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to give credit to the template designer but unfortunately I didn't have her name noted on my copy. She designed the snowman image digitally and shared it on her blog. All I did was format the image to print two to a page.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I trimmed the printed template to fit around the candy bar, or in this case granola and energy bars, and wrapped it around securing the edges with double-sided tape.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The hats were done with fleece remnants. I took a 20" x 5" long piece, folded it in half and sew the ends (wrong side or inside, not sure what the proper term is) together. You basically need a long "tube" made with fleece. I cut about 5" from the long "tube" to form each hat. Fold about 1/4" from one end twice. Tie a string or cord an inch above the folded bottom, cinch tightly. Cut the fringes above the string,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cut a strip of fleece about half an inch by five inches for the scarf and tied that around the snowman.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRUknbnR0yCZKYJHqHtSU25DBPMloiWzLEiBv2zNgN22I0Ju-Cr0mZc3ZoUH6HwqBeRzqV7wuMsZzsrTKdX-nrZfvDIAch1pgE5Z3cKTuUwu-V6Cj3_73tTKx65dcBkKcetqYjZNjqc7c/s1600/Snowmen+Huddle+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="352" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRUknbnR0yCZKYJHqHtSU25DBPMloiWzLEiBv2zNgN22I0Ju-Cr0mZc3ZoUH6HwqBeRzqV7wuMsZzsrTKdX-nrZfvDIAch1pgE5Z3cKTuUwu-V6Cj3_73tTKx65dcBkKcetqYjZNjqc7c/s400/Snowmen+Huddle+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Since I used leftover materials from last year, I struggled to put the hats on the snowmen but I got them on.. Last year I used Nestle Milk Chocolate bars and they're slightly narrower than the bars I used this year. You can slide the bar from the opening at the bottom without destroying the design.<br />
<br />
I had given some to kids already who thought they were cute. But my son thought they were spooky when they were all lined up on my work table after I finished putting them together. Oh, I just want to add that the energy bars are for adults like the mailman and the UPS delivery person. <br />
<br />
One more week til Christmas. Are you ready?<br />

When I went back to review all the cards I made since October to select a card design to send out this season, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had so much to choose from. I could not decide right away which one I would use. I wanted something simple and easy because frankly, I'm running out of time. I really like the red cardinals even though the card itself was more involved than I originally wanted.<br />
<br />
I got them all done in one day and mailed with plenty of time to get to their destination before Christmas. I wanted to do other colors but in the end I stayed with just crumb cake and summer starfruit.<br />
